Creative Critical Reflection

Creative Critical Reflection 1.      How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Today, many people don't spread much kindness or love to others. Sometimes, people just want to hear compliments or positive messages. Sometimes, it can save others from being at their lowest. The point of my group's commercial was to "spread joy." For example, there is a part of the commercial where the girl hands the boy a note that cheers him up. We made it this way to show that anyone in society can be feeling down and just a small positive message can help them feel better or even better their day. A constant trend that is happening world wide now is the constant depression or mental issues, so we made the commercial to also promote the message of spreading joy. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? Many people use sticky notes for several purposes. For exam

Final Product

My group and I finally finished our commercial! My friends and I worked very hard on this commercial and we were able to bond. We grew closer together after this project! We all split up the project evenly and were able to work efficiently. I really enjoyed working with my friends on making the actual commercial. I found it very fun playing a role that I could relate to. My group didn’t really have any issues with through the process. If we ever had different views on anything, we were able to find ideas that compliment each other. The experience was overall fun and exciting. I’m so excited to start the next project I receive.

Editing the Music into the Commercial

Today, October 13, 2021, our class times were modified and were shorter than normal to accommodate testing.  However, we tried to use our class time as efficient as possible. We spent some good time making decisions about the music for the video. Our group has had divided opinions for a while as to which song would be the best fit for our video. We each shared our perspectives and why we preferred our song choice and after listening to each other's opinions, we voted and came up with something that we all agreed on. Then, Violet and I thought about creating a voiceover with the music. We discussed it with Mila and Dara decided and they liked the idea. I am glad that it worked that way, because we were able to move on with other details that needed to be considered. The song we selected is called "Tequila." The rhythm of the song seems to catch the audience's attention. We decided we wanted to try recording "Post-It!" toward the end of the song.  The idea was

Editing the Commercial

Today, Monday, October 11, 2021, we started the editing process. I coordinated with Mila, to ensure that everyone's ideas were included in the video. We decided that Mila will be the main editor for the project. We all sent her the final version of the clips that we were using for the commercial. When Mila put together the videos, she realized that the total length of the commercial was over 30 seconds. A couple clips were edited, so that they would meet the required length. There were some clips that needed additional editing than others. At some point, Mila mentioned that the transitions did not look smooth.  After considering different options available, we were able to come up with good ideas. We suggested to switch the transitions on iMovie. Mila was able to complete the transition smoothly. By doing this, the video now looks better organized and professional. This change really made a big difference and we all felt relieved that the video was now edited. We were all very exci

Production at the Media Center

Today is October 7th and it was our second day of production. We were able to finish our second round of filming. This part was filmed in front of the Media Center. My group and I worked on finishing smoothly from where had left off last class. We focused on the scenes that showcased the Post-It notes the most. As we were filming the scenes from today, we had to keep track of how long each scene was. We tried to avoid the same mistake from last time, when the videos were all too short.  We did not edit, but we kept track of the times. Due to today being a professional study day (PSD), our class time was shortened. We had to retake my scene opening the lunch box various times, because each time the video was either too short or too long. We also took some time to film a video of the Post-It notes pack that we bought.  However, we are still debating on whether we want to incluide that scene towards the end of the film. I believe this would be decided based on whether we have enough time

Production on the Senior Patio

On Tuesday, the 5th of October, I started filming with my group. One of my group members was not there, so we had to send the clips to her for her to approve them. As one of the actors, I took a very important role in starring in the commercial. I played the role of the girl who receives the post-it note from her mom. My character has to show a very happy and entusiastic personality. Violet, one of my other teammates, starred in the commerial as two people. One of the roles was the sad boy that receives the post-it from me. She also played my mother, who wrote the post-it note. I had helped Violet with her hair and costume when switching roles. Violet and I took pride in our roles and tried to play them to the best of our abilities. After many takes, we had finally got some good content. Dara, the final teammate that had been a part of production on day one, had directed most of the commercial. She also filmed all the scenes that were created today. I also helped filming some of the
