Creative Critical Reflection

 Here is my CCR blog!

Project Blog

This project was indeed a great experience. When I look back and compare this one with our first project, I can see how much I have learned. Although I have always enjoyed playing with my phone to create videos and take pictures, I had the opportunity to learn techniques and options that I did not know were available. Although adjusting music clips was a challenge at first, I really enjoyed learning new tricks and how to enhance the video. Adding filters was even more interesting and it just added more fun the project.    Although I really enjoyed working with my group from the beginning of the school year, things did not work that well this time around. I have decided to work with another group going forward. I believe this move will give me the opportunity to work with other classmates that I normally don’t get to work with. I look forward to starting the next project, apply the techniques that I have learned so far and continue learning much more. This project was certainly a chal

Editing The Video Day

Today, we finally completed our video. We worked very hard during the last couple days, putting our best efforts. In fact, I believe the final product is better that we originally expected. One of the challenges we encountered was the music. It turned out difficult to make the music match the video and the way we put together the clips. We tried several times and different ways to fix it and it still did not look right. I was starting to feel impatient and worried that after all this hard work, it was not going to come out as expected. After a lot of practice, we were able to understand how and when to cut the music. We learned that we needed to count the exact seconds, instead of trying to estimate. Once we were able to apply this technique, all the video clips were put together with the music. There were still some adjustments needed, but we had successfully completed the main part. We then worked on adding some filters to certain scenes. One of the things I found very interesting w

Last Day of Filming!

Today we continued with our filming. Dara and Violet went to Dara’s house to work on filming the rest of the video. We needed to take advantage that Violet’s brother, Cole, was available. Because they still had some daylight time, they decided to take care of the parts in the flashbacks. The shots that were taken included Cole and Dara walking together. Some other shots were taken while they were sitting together and also spinning. A lot of other scenes were filmed, but Violet made sure that she got some good ones where they showed the most chemistry. In the middle of filming, there were some unexpected situations that worked just perfect. While Cole and Dara were sitting on the steps, Cole got his shoes dirty. Violet was able to catch his natural reaction to the incident. She was also able to catch Dara’s most natural reaction to what happened. Moving forward, the video includes a part where Cole goes to visit Dara. For this part, we used Dara’s actual front door and apartment decorat

Dealing With the Challenges

Today we continued with our project. However, the focus was to fix certain parts of our music video. While going over the scenes we filmed yesterday, we realized that one of the scenes was not exactly the way we had in mind. The music we chose was supposed to flow with the scene and then transition to the next scene. But our main character was not going with the music beat and seemed to be falling a little delayed. Violet filmed the scene various times again. She used different techniques to redo the filming but the work looked sloppy. We started getting somehow impatient that we needed some other options to use. After being pleased with the filming we did yesterday, it seemed like we must have been so tired, that we did not realize it needed cleaning. One thing for sure was that we did not want to sacrifice hitting the beats on the music. We all started suggesting different techniques to try on. And every single option was tested. We zoomed the camera in and out, going side by side,

Started the filming!

Today my group decided to focus on the filming of our main character.   We decided to ask Violet’s brother, Cole, if he could help us by being part of our film.   He agreed to be in our video.   We were very happy that he accepted to help us.   We were somehow concerned that our schedules were not allowing us to set time aside to do the filming during day time.   In addition, this time around we also needed to consider our main character’s schedule as well.   Violet started filming her brother while he was laying in bed.   We had to improvise with the lighting and setting, due to the time of the day we got to film.   Surprisingly, it all looked almost like if we had originally planned it like that. Some of the scenes were filmed more than just a few times. We had to find the best angles for the scenes to show what we wanted.   Our film includes the main character waking up to an alarm that has been set up.   We had previously prepared some text messages on the phone that the main actor
