Intro Blog

Hi and welcome back to my blog! My name is Nicole Miller. I am now in A-Level media and will be working to dig deeper into the media world. I am now 16 years old and a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School in Florida.  I am currently in the Pre-Law and Cambridge programs at my school. I am completing my last credit this year to recieve my Cambridge diploma. I have slightly changed my plans for my future job and plan to be either a family attorney or a psychologist for children. This decision still based on my experience within my own parents' divorce.  I would also like to develope a business or to have a side job involving media, where I can combine my work experience with my talents, as well as presenting my contribution to the community.  I am currently participating in various clubs at school.  I am secretary of Environmental Club, representative of Best Buddies, and just recently auditioned and started my second year of being on the school dance team.  I am a competitive dancer at the Dancers' Training Spot, where I have been dancing for the past 3 years, but I orignially started dancing since I was 3 years old.  Dance is my way to express my feelings and find myself during both good and not so good times. It also allows me to bring up some of my family's culture into different performances.  I can say with pride that dance is my passion.  I do not see myself doing it past college solely because it is very difficult to keep it as a stable job or profession. I spoke in the past on my long time experience with modeling and a company who I have worked with for a while; however, I no longer work with them due to their negative behavior on the appearance of others. Now, I show others that height, size, shape, etc. should not define a person's ability to feel confident with themselves on social media and share my experience with these types of situations. I chose to continue taking AICE Media Studies because I want to understand and discover more things about the media world.

Some of the fonts we were planning on using in our film include Alta California , IM FELL Double Pica SC, and Juniper Std. For Alta California, we would use it when we show our names. For example, when we write “Edited by: Hannah and Mila” it would be used on “Hannah and Mila.” It is a sticker-like decorative font that has a rugged look to it. It relates to the film we are creating because it is a story about a girl who has a rugged life and mentality. Also, the font has a youthful feeling attached to it which correlates to how the film is made about teenagers. It also has a scary and mysterious feeling to it, which matches the overall tone of the film. It relates to our thriller genre and emphasizes the mood that we are trying to implement.  For IM FELL Double Pica SC, we would use it for the title descriptions. For example, when we write “Edited by: Hannah and Mila” it would be used on “Edited by.” It is a serif small caps font with a rugged, traditional, and sophisticated appeal...

Music Changes

Today, we spent time picking new music. We messaged Khalid a while ago and he still hasn't seen ut. Since Khalid hasn’t answered our messages, so we didn’t to have any other artist options. My group and I didn’t think Frank Ocean would respond back or even on time. Because of that, we didn't attempt to message him. We started looking for some royalty free music. However, none of the options were good enough for our film in our opinion. We kept finding other ways that we can use so that the music would be good. Since we think music is one of the most important parts of the film. We found some potential ideas. We thought of the idea of remixing a song, so that it wouldn’t be copyrighted. We started editing the song we originally had which was "Coaster." We editing the speed and the sounds in the background to see if we can still use it.
